MEMBER TO MEMBER LINK IS LIVE!
Your Board of Directors are pleased to announce the Member to Member link is operational!! This value added service will now enable Members to offer special discounts and pricing and a host of other incentives available to Members of the Association. The six categories that you will be able to browse and submit postings for are : Transportation and Communication, Hospitality, Marketplace, Business to Business Support, Careers and of course, the catch all category Pot Pourri. COLLEGE OF TRADES, STARTING TO ENGAGE
With an newly appointed Chair of the Board of Governors and Appointments Council, the College of Trades is starting to engage in discussions with the construction industry and has issued its first Newsletter. You may recall, the College was legislated in 2009 as a body to oversee the governance of the apprenticeship training system in Ontario, promote careers in the skilled trades and review compulsory certification and ratios. The College is now reviewing applications for Adjudicators whose role will likely be centred around ratios in compulsory trades. To learn more visit www.collegeoftrades.ca

KCA ESTABLISHES EDUCATION BURSARY IN CONSTRUCTION
Your Board of Directors is pleased and proud to announce the establishment of the KCA Bursary in Construction with St. Lawrence College, Kingston Campus. On behalf of all members, President Kevin Collins presented St. Lawrence College CEO, Chris Whitaker with a cheque for $15,000 as the initial commitment to establish the bursary. With additional matching support from the Ontario government, also in the amount of $15,000, this investment in student education will provide an annual payment in perpetuity. The criteria for the award will be granted to a returning full time student pursuing a professional designation, skilled trade and/or apprenticeship program related to the construction and building industry at the Kingston campus. Applicants will have demonstrated a strong work ethic and outstanding skill in their first year of studies, must be a resident of Ontario and demonstrate financial need. President Collins echoed Board sentiments, taking pride in the fact the Association is able to provide this bursary and legacy on behalf of all Members and proud of this investment in students and education in our local community specific to the construction industry.
